PJDC is bringing back its “soup to nuts” training on youth defense practice in California — updated for 2022! This 14-hour training will provide: (1) instruction in the subjects required to satisfy the rule 5.664 / AB 703 training requirements for appointed juvenile defense counsel; (2) a comprehensive overview of youth defense practice in California (from appointment through post-dispo advocacy), and (3) defense strategies* from an esteemed ensemble of practitioner experts.

TUES., JUNE 14 – Introduction to Delinquency Law, Adolescent Development Principles, Raising the Adolescent Brain, Cultural Competency (LGBTQ)
WED., JUNE 15 – Detention Advocacy, Competency and Capacity, 601 Youth, ICWA, CSEC 
THURS., JUNE 16 – Crossover Youth, Extended Foster Care, Educational Advocacy, Recognition & Elimination of Racial Bias
TUES., JUNE 21 – Juvenile Transfer, Pre-Adjudication Litigation, Immigration, Direct & Collateral Consequences
WED., JUNE 22 – Adjudication Strategies, Writs and Appeals, Dispositional Advocacy
THURS., JUNE 23 – Post-Dispositional Advocacy, Ethical Duties of Youth Defenders
