Marshall Project Highlights Work to “Ban the Other Box”

The Marshall Project featured an article on June 16, 2016 on youth advocates’ efforts to get colleges to stop using school disciplinary records in the admissions process.  The practice disproportionately affects youth of color, the records are often inaccurate, and an expulsion or suspension is not predictive of future behavior. The article was written by Kate Weisburd, Director of the Youth Defender Clinic at the East Bay Community Law Center, and PJDC Advisory Board member.

The article is entitled “Ban the Other Box” and is available here.
