Sacramento Bee Op-Ed Highlights PJDC Bill To Limit Solitary Confinement of Juveniles

The Sacramento Bee’s editorial section highlighted the broad coalition of supporters of Senate Bill 1143, which would greatly limit the use of solitary confinement of juveniles in California’s juvenile halls. The bill is sponsored by PJDC, the Ella Baker Center, and the Chief Probation Officers of California, and according to the sponsors, “SB 1143 is the product of five years of robust and sometimes challenging dialogue.”  The measure will be voted on by the entire California Senate on Thursday, June 2.
