PJDC 20th Annual Roundtable: Challenging Confinement of Youth and Former Youth

Friday, September 8th and Saturday, September 9th, 2023 | UC Davis Law School (Social Worker Registration)

We are excited to be back for our 20th Year! And this year we have expanded our offerings.

On FRIDAY, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., we will offer a specialized Social Worker training on how to testify: Demystifying the Witness Stand – A Social Worker Testimony Training Day

What does it take to qualify as an expert? What happens during direct and cross examination? The facilitators will answer these questions – and more! – in a didactic and interactive training that includes hypotheticals and provides social workers with the opportunity to prepare for their first or next appearance on the witness stands.

On SATURDAY, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., we will start off the morning with a presentation on utilizing disability law in your juvenile defense practice and another on working together to push back from the probation narrative. The balance of the day will consist of a series of three breakout sessions during which attendees can attend workshops along one of three tracks: (1) The Social Worker’s Role, (2) Transfer Hearings, or (3) General Juvenile Court Practice.

PJDC trainings are open to those currently working in defense.

$75 for both days

$50 for Saturday only

DIETARY RESTRICTIONS (?): Please specify these in the registration form and we will do our best to accomodate.
